Generally, there are several types of Wearing contact lenses. For most people, the most
suitable option are hydrogel or silicone hydrogel lenses. These are used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia or eyestrain (from the age of 40 or so) and following these steps:
1.wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them.
- stand in front of a mirror
- hold the contact lens with your index finger, also helping yourself with your
thumb. Although the contact lenses appear thin, it is very difficult for them to break. Therefore, it is important to hold them securely and without any fear. - place the contact lens resting in the center on the index finger of the hand with which we normally work (dominant hand). The lens should be placed as a plate and as close as possible to the fingernail.
- pull the lower eyelid downwards.
- tilt the head downwards and always keep the gaze towards the mirror to be able to see where we are placing the contact lens.
- bring the contact lens close to the eye and snap it into the white part of the eye.
Once the contact lens is attached, the contact lens is placed on its own in the
central area of the eye and you must look sideways moving your eyes and blink gently and not hard because the contact lens can jump.
Try not to blink too much or force the eyelids and hold the lower eyelid well.
In cases where the person closes the eye too much, the other hand can be used to hold the upper eyelid and with the dominant hand the lower eyelid and the contact lens on the index finger.
CONTACT LENSES HANDLING TIPS
Wearing contact lenses is a very good option for people who want to either
combine it with glasses or be able to wear contact lenses every day.
The best option will always be to be able to make a combination of wearing
glasses and contact lenses as it is not recommended to wear contact lenses for
many hours.
⦁ In general, the recommended daily wear time for contact lenses is about 9 hours.
Silicone hydrogel contact lenses are still a foreign body that adheres to the eye
and the eye also requires oxygen. When excessive use is made the eye “breathes”
less and that is when the eye redness, itching etc. starts.
⦁ Another way to be able to wear contact lenses properly, is to take a break
between hours. For example, if you put in contact lenses in the morning, after a
few hours take a break and remove them and later put them back in.
⦁ The use of moisturizing drops is also recommended especially if you work most
of the day in closed, dry or air-conditioned environments.
⦁ If you put in your contact lenses in the morning, always wait at least 20 minutes
after waking up because after spending the night with your eyes closed, the eye
needs a minimum time to recover adequate hydration.
⦁ Wash your hands thoroughly before handling contact lenses
